The "Spiritus X: Machina Illuminas," or "Ghost X-ray" was to be used in a portion of the show in which different types of ghosts and demons would be revealed to the audience. We constructed the cabinet with a hinged door in front and a slot in the top where a series of paintings (created by Ursula Stuby) could be slipped in and out of the machine between "scans."

In this, the first, a "living human volunteer" is brought up from the audience, and the machine reveals "normal internal organs and boxer shorts."
